Step Three - Hire a Lawyer

Consulting with a lawyer does not result in hiring a lawyer.  You have to decide whether the lawyer is a good fit for you and your situation.  The lawyer has to decide whether he/she can help you with your family law problem. Do not hesitate to interview more than one lawyer before making a final decision.  You are about to invest a lot of time, energy and money in your case, and you want to feel confident and comfortable with your decision.

If you do retain one of our lawyers, you will be asked to pay the requested retainer.  The retainer is deposited in our trust account so that your funds are segregated from our firm’s funds.  By law, the interest on your money is sent to the State Bar of Texas to fund legal aid programs. At the time you pay the requested retainer, an engagement letter will be delivered to you.  The engagement letter is the employment contract between you and our firm.   We will ask to sign and return the engagement letter to us.
