JoAl Cannon Sheridan

JoAl Cannon Sheridan began her legal career in family law and general litigation in 1992 in East Texas and moved to Austin to join Ausley, Algert, Robertson & Flores in January 2008. She became a partner in the firm in 2010. She is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. 

Along with her extensive experience in the courtroom as a litigator, she is frequently sought as an expert in jurisdictional issues and child custody disputes and often lectures on these topics. 

Recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine since 2003, JoAl is known throughout the state for her service to the legal profession in maintaining high ethical standards and for championing legislation that meets the needs of families.   She is currently serving her second term as a council member for the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, was a former Trustee for the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism, and is Vice-Chair of the Board of Disciplinary Appeals that is appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to preside over grievance appeals.  She currently serves as Trustee for the Texas Bar Foundation, a charitable arm of the State Bar of Texas which promotes legal education for the public and legal services to the poor.
